Freetz binary builds - where?

I barely know Deutsch, but I can understand a bit ... I have a question for you :

Do you have any builds of freetz, binary ones? I mean like, most of the modding portals, wiki and so on have something like autobuild feature, where you can download ready made images for most of the boxes, grouped by the model. Is there such feature in freetz community? Gruss

There are no binary builds. Freetz builds firmware images based on and containing parts of binary images by AVM (the fritz box manufacturer), and the licence for this firmware images prohibits distributing their firmwares or their closed source binary parts.

Fair enough. But isn't avm breaking the GPL ? The same situation was with Samsung, Fon , Asus, Amstrad and some other vendors, finally they've released full sourcecode - here Amstrad E3 (amsdelta) can be a good example.

Yes and no . AVM does release the sourcecode for the open source parts of their firmwares - (otherwise, most of freetz would not be possible). The closed source parts are only special kernel modules and user space software completly written by them. They do not have to release sourcecode for these.

They do, however, not release the sourcecode for the open source parts in time; often parts are missing, and releases for some firmware versions (for example 'labor' firmwares) do not show up at all. In this respect, they probably break the GPL and other relevant licences.
