MODEM UMTS USB driver for 7170

Hello,
i made a working driver for e220, e270 umts modem for 7170 with 2.6.13 kernel.

It works only if only gsm modem is attached on usb port.

i made hotplug script for automatic driver install.

Now the modem is mounted on ttyUSB( 0 1 2 ) serial ports.

How can i make internet connection ?

pppd is not in freetz.

Hi,

pppd is part of freetz. But it's only shown when pptp or pptpd is selected because only these packages use pppd.

As I understood, there's also the "replace kernel" dependency for pppd.

Hello.

I am interested in this solution, too.
At least for test reasons.

Currently we are using Internet via satellite. At its best 256 kb/s down and 64 kb/s up, but very slow connection because of the distance.

skizzo3000, how far are you with this one?
Is there a special way of how to compile the firmware with freetz?

I made:
usbserial, option drivers
pppd, chat programs
a GUI in cgi-bin
an atserver daemon and atclient to comunicate with modem
but i had disable iptable freetz GUI

i made a working test firmware but all in italian.

And maybe a short manual of how to get it to work.

in these days i'm working on a 'gsm framework' so all user can call the functions without any problem.

At now is difficult for me post some working files, because they are very alfa test and hard to integrate in firmware.

In march i think i will complete the framework and i upload it with english guide.

Features in framework:

- hotplug usb modem
- hw test
- saving conf file in flash
- internet connection with pppd
- operator and mode info
- ppp session info/log
- firewall/nat on ppp interface
- parameters configuration in simple GUI
- sms support: read and send and delete
- sms gui
- sim phonebook
- phonebook gui
- some example sms script for automations
- autopin
- autoconnect (umts)
- serial driver and daemon for input/output serial borad with rele and i2c bus
- simple function to create gui (html)

ALL WRITE IN SHELL SCRIPT !! (so it works on all linux PC and embedded)

i made a working firmware but without the gsm framework.
dchp server is disabled and the iptables has a simple configuration, that can be changed only via telnet.

maybe you can give some hints to do this on a 3170?

I was on the download-page to find the firmware and UMTS-Driver, I found the GSM/UMTS-Driver but which of these many firmware can I use in my fritzbox 7170 to try if it accepts my Huawei E172?
I will even try it with italian firmware, the menu works almost the same and many of the most important words are in english regardless of the language of userinterface...

I'm at the stage of the firmware modyfukacji FRITZ! Box with the assistance of speed-to-fritz, and similar tools.
I would like to install the firmware for the 7170 and 7141 (58.04.76)
GSM modem on USB Hueway E220 E165. I know that you have the drivers for the E220. I have a question?
Is posiadsz driver for E165?
Do you have an operative part of the firmware - the menu with support for GSM, as in 7270? Or a script like this to do the same for drivers that do not cater?
Can this be done by adapting the firmware for the 7170 and 7270 drivers substitution?
