Hello,

I dont understand the german language so I cant find solution to my problem.
I use german latest 08.04.34 firmware, if I connect ADSL modem to my PC then I have 6.8Mbit, BUT if I connect ADSL modem to Fritz and FritzUSB to PC USB then I just have 5.8Mbit ?!

Maybe PC motherboard's USB? I have replaced my motherboard 2 weeks ago...

Which Fritz!Box do you have?

Those USB Ports are USB1.1. 12 MBit/s maximum. Effective bandwidth is considerably less. 5.8 MBit/s is no suprise.

Thanks, but it was 6.8 for a long time, it is smaller since 2-4weeks.

anyway I had to change my motherboard from Asrock 939Dual SATA to MSI K8T Neo 2

@blackbile:

You give only little information, so we must adivinate ...
Why do you use a separate ADSL modem? Do you live in a country with Annex A? Is your FritzBox the german Annex B version?

In your first post you said FW 08.04.34. That means, you are using Annex B FW. It means also, that your Box is the "classic" Fritz!Box Fon WLAN (no additional number). That Box has only one LAN port. If this port is occupied by the Modem, you must connect the PC via USB or via WLAN.
It seems, you decided to connect the PC via USB.

Here are my recommendations:
- Don't use the USB connection - it may be slow.
- Connect your PC(s) via WLAN - that works well (WLAN g = 54 Mbit/s)
- Alternatively you can patch the FB to Annex A and directly connect to ADSL

The 3. option means, no more external Modem needed. You can connect your PC to the LAN port.
The "how to patch from AnnexB to AnnexA" is often described here in the forum, even in english. Use the search function.

Because of my simple Fritz!Box (without any number, an old type) give smaller bandwith than my adsl modem.
My Fritz is an originally german Annex A. I live in Hungary, I had Annex B but I asked my ISP to change Annex A because I have a bad connection line... Annex A gave much better connection.

I think that 08.04.34. is Annex A
Yes, my box is a classic type as I said earlier.
Yes, I connect PC via USB as I said in my first message.

I confused what you wrote because I tried Annex B firmware and the latest is wrong - cant connect PC via USB!
I use Fritz in this mode because it has smaller bandwith than ADSL modem.

Thanks for your advices, I will try the WLAN!!!
I will post the results.

No, FW 08.04.34 is german version, Annex B
The latest Austria/CH version Annex A ist 08.04.15
There is a "new" english version 08.04.49 Annex A. But this version has a bug and doesn't work in combination with an external modem

I confused what you wrote because I tried Annex B firmware and the latest is wrong - cant connect PC via USB!
If you have an Annex A box, you can't load Annex B FW (without patches)
If you have an Annex B box, you can't load Annex A FW (without patches)
FW 08.04.34 has no known bug, as far as I know.
I am not sure, if you really have an Annex A box ???
Write a support file (http://192.168.178.1/html/support.html) and post it here. That will help to see things clearer.

I will try the WLAN!!! I will post the results.
Yeah, do that. You will need a WLAN device at your PC.

The WLAN is a solution:

I have better bandwith now!

And I saw that I use an Annex A system. But now I cant find in german firmware.

My only question is that how can I use WPA keys, because if I want to use this key I cant connect with my PC ???

Do you use Windows XP?
Windows XP without SP3 need a MS-patch to use WPA/WPA2
Check the microsoft website in your prefer language for KB893357 and/or KB917021.

Thank you Ecki-No1, but I have XP with SP3...

(Exactly it is offtopic how to use wpa key with an usb stick.)

Thanks for all who helped me solving this problem.

Maybe your USB-WLAN stick doesn't support WPA/WPA2. It's a new or an older type of WLAN USB stick?
Try all modes in fritz!box:
- WPA
- WPA2
- WPA + WPA2

Use a short password (10 - 20 chars)
Good luck.

Maybe your USB-WLAN stick doesn't support WPA/WPA2 ...
I agree with Ecki-No1. It must be your WLAN USB Stick.
My own WLAN USB Stick is over 4 years old and it supports WPA (not WPA2).
Thus I hope, your stick will, too.

If not, try to find a new driver for your stick via Google.

But you are right: This topic is OT! So we should end here.
