Installing Freetz trunk (7635) on 7170, no Freetz webinterface

Hi Experts,

These are my first steps with Freetz.

I’m trying to create an image for my 7170, a test router not connected to my ADSL line.

I used the following commands:
svn co http://svn.freetz.org/trunk/ freetz-trunk
mv freetz-trunk/ freetz-trunk-7635
cd freetz-trunk-7635
make menuconfig > selected “Fon WLAN 7170”, “Firmware language (en - international)” and “Annex (A)”
make

I uploaded this image via the webinterface which seem to be successful (blinking Info for ~30 sec followed by a reset).

The normal Fritz!box webinterface (http://fritz.box) is normally working, but the Freetz webinterface (http://fritz.box:81) is not.
Any idea what I’m missing here? Can I verify if my image is successfully installed (e.g. via telnet)?

Flashing your new image did not succeed. The output of ps doesn't show anything different from an original AVM firmware.

Thanks for your reply.
I verified the md5 outcome of the image in ./freetz-trunk-7635/images/ and the one I used for flashing, they are the same.
So I have to look further...I didn't see errors during make. Below Step 1 to 3 of make.

Can I see from the LED behavior to get a better understanding what goes wrong?

I ordered a Data cable that probably arrives in a week or two, which hopefully gives more info what happens during flashing.

Here the steps I used:

Settings > System > Firmware Update > Firmware File
Step 1: Save Settings
Step 2: Selected firmware “7170_04.84freetz-devel-7635.en_20110917-220645.image” via the Browse button
Step 3: Start Update button.
After about 50 seconds get message “Attention! The specified file does not contain firmware released for this device by AVM. …..” >
Selected “Continue Update” button

Info blinking for about 30 seconds followed by all LEDs on for 1 second that all LEDs off followed by a reboot.


I tried it a few times with each time the same result.
 
I installed freetz-linux under VirtualBox and re-build the image for my 7170 with the same selections (exept now with 7662), inside freetz-linux and this installed fine.
Looks that I have to look more carefull at my first build environment...but guess I will use freetz-linux for now.
 
After receiving de Data cable I again tried to load the failed image, but I didn't recognize the error.
Below the startup messages from the 7170. I did make a note when I got the request to continue with the not AVM released firmware.
But I don't see where it goes wrong. The router did again came back online with the old existing image. I expected more details about the reason of the failure.
But if someone sees where it goes wrong than please let me know.

Perhaps you can try to execute "sh -x /var/install" manually when it stops with this webinterface message and post the output of "cat /var/post_install". Is the file /var/tmp/kernel.image created?

Thanks for pointing me to locations that provide additional infomation during uploading an image.

Yes the file is created, with an expected timestamp (file name on disk:7170_04.84freetz-devel-7635.en_20110917-220645.image). The size is smaller than on my harddisk (7499776bytes). I understand from the flash layout that kernel.image contains both kernel and root files system. I only don't understand the difference of 781560bytes.

I don't know what is going on there. The piece of code in /var/install is:
