I would like to add a second IP address to the lan interface.
To do this I thought I can use the already present lan:0 interface.

On startup I have in rc.local:
Code:
ifconfig lan:0 192.168.178.19 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

But I observe that, after some time (about a day) the interface get reset to 169.254.1.1

Can I prevent the lan:0 interface to be reset to 169.254.1.1, or is there another way to add a second IP address?

Hello

Simply let lan:0 untouched and use lan:1...
Code:
ifconfig lan:1 192.168.178.19 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
...and pray that multid let it be.
:rolleyes: (I bet he let)

@koyaanisqatsi,
Thanks. Probably should have followed that route initially.
I changed it to lan:1. Hopefully it doesn't get changed...

Another good "hook" is the "/etc/onlinechanged" directory ... usually a dsld/multid action is coupled with a change of the online/offline state of the box - as long as it's working as a router.
