Free Hot spots or accessopint ... automatic connection or not?

Dear All,

sorry if don't write in german, but i'm italian and i could write in german only using an autmatic translator.....

I have a TC300 with firmware pirelli 3.99d. My question is if it is possible to have an automatic connection when the phone discover a WiFi network without any encryption. As i have understood to connect you have always to use the WiFi settings to put the name of the DSIS. am i wrong? are there any other ways to autoconnect the phone to free hotspots or accespoints?

Welcome not a problem at all. we're globalized enough (no more good wages, deleted social standards, so lets cancel provincial slangs, too, who need it anymore? my personal suggestion for the new EU-constitution contract.).

To Your Q: not possible. roaming is only possible between AP's, which ESSIDs are preconfigured in the TC300s' wlan profiles. furthermore, the TC300 does filter and not list AP's that don't broadcast the ESSID but the BSSID ("hidden-SSID child protection", useless against advanced scanners like kismet).

And the TC300 cannot detect if a AP is really "open", many professional campus and company hotspots use other access methods it cannot detect automatically and maybe cannot use at all (IPSEC/VPN,...).

This is a big limitation, because before i had a UTStarcom F3000 (that died) that recognized anc auto-connected to all the wifi network without encryption. This didn't mean that i had SIP connection but it estabilished the network connection.

For example if you want to view the netowrks in the area you have to choose a signle network profile to do this search.

I hope that in next firmwares we will have more features to improve the wifi section to be advised almost of the presence of one wifi network
