I was checking to get from ebay a used FB 7050, but passed by Freetz to see what options i can put with a modified firmware, and i found that when i select the 7050, i have only German as language, why doesn't you support english? the avm.de website has an english firmware for this device

The firmware of this boxes is too old to be supported by Freetz. I can't even unpack them. I think this is uClibc-0.9.26 and Kernel 2.4.21.

Oliver

I also would really love support for the 7050 english edition. I currently have the FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7050 (Annex B) with Firmware Version 14.04.26 installed, but I hope I can extent the firmware with 6to4 support.

Is the english 14.04.26 firmware so different from the 14.04.33 german firmware?
The image is downloadable from here.

Yes it is. It has kernel 2.4 instead of 2.6, uClibc-0.9.26 instead of 0.9.28. It has no lzma compression for squashfs and a hidden squashfs beginning after the kernel continued in filesystem.image. Perhaps we can add support for this box to ds24 but not to Freetz. And 6to4 support will not be available for this box ever? ;-)

Oliver

Yeah I was wondering the same there are a few manuals of changing the 7050 form german to english, but it should probably be no problem to do it in reverse too.

As I'm dutch it would not be that hard to read the german webinterface, so from that point there could be a possibillity, but what about ipv6 on 7050 (german). My isp has not native ipv6 support but does support 6to4 tunneling. From this thread I can see that ipv6 tunneling is possible with freetz but does the 7050 support the latest freetz svn?

Update:
I found this manual to make a modded 7240 english version by using the 7270 language library, it might be worth a try to do the same with the 7050. So patching the 14.04.33 german firmware with english libraries.

The "only" difference shold be the language of the Web-IF. So you might try to get a "quite near" version of an english firmware of another box. You might try to "mix up" the german 14.04.33 with the WebIF taken from an english firmware of the 7170. The FRITZ.Box_Fon_WLAN_7170.AnnexA.en.04.34.recover-image.exe should give you an english WebIF 04.34 wich should be "sufficient near" to the german firmware regarding the version of the firmware and the 7170 should also have a superset of the 7050 HW, so this might be a good starting point ro "translate" the german firmware. Google ill be your friend to
find it and freetz-tool "extract-images" will get the kernel.image out of the recover for you ;-)
