[Problem] Fritz box Internet speed

Dear all,

I have a FRITZ!Box SL WLAN, Firmware-Version 09.04.34 at home and using it with a Kabel Deutschland cable Arris modem.

The internet speed when I use the LAN cable direct is 30 MBPS, but when I connect it via WLAN with Fritz box the speed reduces to 2 MBPS!

Can anyone please help and tell me how to solve this and make the speed same as with direct LAN connection?

This is not possible because FRITZ!Box SL WLAN is not powerful enough to serve you with the same speed as with direct LAN connection.

The connection speed with the WLAN shows 54 Mbps. Is there any setting in the box to increase the speed? Or anything I can do besides buying a new WLAN modem?

There are always two sides of a connection. Which connection speed or WLAN protocol does the other end show?
The maximum you can get with a FRITZ!Box SL WLAN is about one third of the 802.11g 54 Mbps shown.
You may consider one of the powerful WLAN N routers offered by Kabel Deutschland (see Geräteauswahl).

A littel perfomance you can get with the tool TCP-Optimizer, wich will adjust some parameter from your networkcard. Windows (especially XP) sets those parameters wrong, in some circumstances.
For my XP it does the trick to get some more than 2 MBPS.
