Fritzbox 5050 upgrade problem - help

I bought a 5050 from ebay, I converted to annex A and it works perfectly here in Greece.

BUT now I want to update the firmware.

It is 12.03.89 and I tried to upgrade it to 12.04.26 but with no success

I tried also the recover image 12.04.15 but with no success again

It seems that after the change from Annex A to Annex B I can not any more to upgrade the firmware

Please help

what Annex actually now? Latest FW is 12.04.31 on AVM ftp server. Try to upgrade to this one. If your box still is annex A no need to change back to B for upgrading.

If no success try to RECOVER with RECOVER version of 04.31 from AVM server (ftp x_misc). I have four 5050 working perfectly with 04.31 and converted to annex A.

Yesterday I managed to upgrade it to 12.04.26
I followed these steps:

1) I converted it back to Annex B (fritz_als_annex_b.tar)
2) I upgrated it to 12.04.26
3) I converted it again to Annex A (fritz_als_avm_annex_A_new.tar)​

and it works perfectly

imagomundi If I upgrate it to 12.04.31 what patch should I use to convert it to Annex A?
I suspect the fritz_as_avm_annex_a_kernel_args.tar but i am not sure

If your box was ORIGINALLY annex B there is normally no need to first convert back to B for upgrading. Conversion to one or the other annex only changes parameters of the modem function of the box.

Should you for whatever reason (wish or have to) change annex there are two SIMPLE .tar files by "telefonicus" published in thread "FritzBox auf AVM oder 1und1 setzen, ANNEX umsetzen" - follow link on page 1 to file .........newer.tar. These files are good for annex switching of each and every FRITZ - even independent of the kernel and the firmware they are using! Real great job done by TELEFONICUS assisted by JO JO SCHMITZ!!

I am sorry for my question but is no easy to find info if you don't speak german!

No, all the files themselves on page 1 of that thread are no more necessary. You do only need one of the files you can find clicking on the first link (U]diesem Beitrag[/U]): fritz_as_annex_a_kernel_args_newer.tar

I wish that I could use it without problem when I will upgrade my 5050 to 12.04.31

Because the 5050 I already have, working fine with the 12.04.26 and annex A today I bought a new 5050 from ebay.

I will wait to receive it and I will make the experiment with the new device.

Well, I could't resist to wait for the new box, and I upgraded the one I already have.

I follow your instructions and of course it works very fine!!!
