hohe cpu-last bei samba-datei-transfer

hallo,

sofern ich dateien von meiner fb über samba auf meinen pc-schiebe, ist du cpu-last der fb > 90% (smbd-prozess die ursache) und der dateitransfer so auf ~3,1mb/sek begrenzt, obwohl usb-port und platte mehr hergeben.

dateien lade ich von einer usb-festplatte / ext3 formatiert.

hat dies auch schon mal jemand bemerkt? ist das ein generelles problem von samba? oder liegt das evtl. an meinen einstellungen?

CPU-Last hatte ich bis jetzt noch nicht beobachtet.
Aber die ~3,1mb/sek kenn ich. ;-)
Finde ich auch bissl schwach, aber immernoch besser als USB 1.1.
Dateisystem übrigens ebenfalls ext3.

hab das ganze grad über ftp getestet, indem ich ein file vom ftp laden wollte... das gleiche.

scheint also nicht an samba zu liegen.

was ich noch bemerkt habe: beim dateitransfer (egal ob smbd oder vsftpd) zeigt top ein "softirq" von 10-50% (schwankend) an. das scheint das ganze auch auszubremsen.

top zeigt an:

cpu-last von "cp": ~10%
io: ~60-80% (schwankend)
softirq: ~5%
irq: ~1%

ist also auch nicht viel schneller (~3.6mb/sek)... allerdings sieht die cpu-verteilung anders aus.

was ich allerdings noch gemerkt habe: mein "systemtakt" läuft immer auf 120mhz, und ich frage mich, ob das so sein soll oder ein bug der stomsparfunktion der fb ist - siehe http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=165749

ist genausoschnell (100mb-file), hier ist die cpulast:

dd: ~85%
irq: ~6%
softirq: ~3%

wenn ich allerdings die blocksize ändere (nun ein 400mb-file):

102400+0 records in
102400+0 records out
real    1m 0.60s
user    0m 1.30s
sys     0m 44.52s

geht's schneller: ~6,6mb/sek

cpu-last-verteilung ist etwa die gleiche

The problem has not anything to do with usb nor with the nic. The problem is the DMA-less transfer between usb and (switch or wlan). Using bb 1.10.1 one can see that 60-70% is in soft-irq handling.

In this thread @frank_m24 and I localized the problem.

The possibility to dma between the subsystems is the question...

alright, so it seems we're out of luck in getting fast usb-nic transfers in time... hopefully this is only a software-problem, not a hardware one.
