Hi
I've this problem when i use emule
I've the upload set to only 10 K/S (i can reach 60 k/s) but very often emule can't reach this 10 k limit and stays around 5-6
The problem is that when it stays on 5-6 quality of telephone calls is really crappy while when it stays on 10 quality is good
Also when this happens the speed of all my downloads (no emule related) falls about 50%.Clearly when i close emule all my downloads go back to normal
I've set emule with the usual settings for fritz
75 on hard limit
200 on max connections
5 to new connections every 5 seconds
I don't really know what else to do since this problem happens randomly but very often

I think it's not usual that the upload of an emule client does not use the full bandwidth of the configured upload capacity. I think there is a special reason why the emule client lowers the upload bandwidth. Maybe you have another process runing in your system, that takes a huge amount of upload bandwidth in the background. It's also possible that a virus or trojan horse causes this behaviour.
Unfortunately the traffic shaping implemention of the Fritz!Box is not that excellent, so if you eat up all upload bandwidth, the phone may sound crappy. I assume you have the old (analogue) Fritz!Box, the 7050 model has a better traffic shaping performance (in my view).
So my advice to you: Use a traffic monitor and watch the upload bandwidth carefully. If you detect your emule client lowering the bandwidth, watch for the overall upload bandwidth. If it stays at a high level you may have a process running in the background using the upload. I would then install a TCP Monitor like TCPView (freeware) to find out which process is taking the bandwidth.

Which program for monitoring would you suggest ? I only know netlimiter but it seems to hang my pc

that's the problem...
it has to be the other way around!
what you want is many sources (hard limit), but few concurrent connections (max conn)

try changing it and see if the problem's still there :ziggi:
