Hallo,

I see that a lot of people on this forum use the Patton Smartnode devices to interface Asterisk with ISDN and existing PBX's.

But what about the AVM 5188?
Can it be integrated nicely with Asterisk as well?
That box has 8 BRI interfaces (4 NT, 4 TE), right?
And costs only 350 euro !!

In contrast, a Patton SN4638 for example has only 5 BRI ports, and costs A LOT more!

So, what are the main differences, advantages and disadvantages of both solutions?

Vielen Dank!
Frederic

P.S. Feel free to answer in German.

I havent found any reference that this has already been tried. Neither does AVM mention interoperability with asterisk. The datasheet doesn't tell much about the codecs or protocols (T.38?) used in the AVM gatway.

It may (or should) work, but I haven't tried the 5188 yet - i have enough adventure in my life at the moment ;)

But both devices support only 8 simultaneously voice calls.

Did you already test the AVM solution?

bye,
Tom
