english faq to convert 7170 to annex a?

I've bought a 7170 and lately discovered that won't work here in italy.
since I'm not so confortable with german language, whould it be possible for you to write a short english how-to.

Hi alessandro,
welcome to the forum.
I'll do my best and give a short translation of this thread.

• Update your firmware to the most recent version - firmware updates do not work with annex a.
• Download these files: Backup to change back to annex b - for future firmware updates ;-)
  Modification to annex a
• Do not unpack / untar those files
• Do a firmware update with the second file
• Check whether it worked

ok, I have flashed the latest firmware from avm and then the file you suggested and now?
"ubersicht" says firmware is 29.04.01, but "DSL-informationen" keeps saying "annex b"....
any suggestion?

I have exactly the same problem with my FBF 7170 :-(
I need even Annex A, as I live in Holland with analog line.

I really don't know how to proceed :-(

The Box 7170 isn't working with Annex A. Its a Hardwareproblem!
The last Box in this moment, working with Annex A, is 7050!

I am not so sure about that. Is that what AVM told you? If so they said that also about the Fritzbox Wlan Fon and Fritzbox Wlan 7050.

It may be the case that the mod needs to be looked at and redone with respect to the 71X0.
