ENGLISH: No outgoing voice!

Hi. First of all, this looks like a very good forum, but unfortunately my deutch is not that good.

I have a problem with my Fritzbox Fon Wlan 7050 international verison Annex B. Firmware is the newest: 14.04.26

The internet is working fine, over dsl. Voip is registred to SIP provider (here in Norway).
Problem: When someone call me, they can't hear me, but I can hear them. If I call someone everything is good.

I know the SIP provider is good, and I know the dsl-connection is good. I have tried with another fritzbox 7050 german version annex B with 14.04.31, and its working.

I would like to have the same firmware on my english box because I know its working on my other box, but I haven't manage to do so. I have trided the recovery program for the english version,but the problem still exist.

Maybe it is some config I can do in telnet?

I have tried for hours to search for this problem in this forum, but with no luck. Is there anyone there who would like to help me? I'll be very thankfull.

14.04.26 is really the newest fw for the english B version of 7050. IN FACT the english interface for the 7050 is the ONLY one of all FB that have never been updated since nearly two years now and is the only one -as far as I know- that is still working with the old linux kernel 2.4. But even this should not be the reason for your problem. Someone else any idea?

Yes I really thought so.
I have been thinking it could be something with sending the udp packets (cause that is the voice packets). I know there is some different ports these is sending on, but I'm not that compentent to solve my problem.

Someone else has any idea?

May someone help me with converting my english 7050 14.04.26 to the german firmware 14.04.33 ?

This is my last way out of the problem. I have tried to search in the forum but every post is about converting from deutsch to english, and not the oposite, so I'm a bit confused.

Is this a firewall problem? What voip provider do you use? This is what I needed to forward to get things working ok, though it's on a 5050 with sipgate. you should at least try forwarding the 5050 ports as 7050 should be similar, and then find out what your voip provider uses.

Thank you but I don't think it is. I use it as a DSL modem, and its direct on the internet with external ip. It is no router between.
Also when it is a firewall issue, it is the incoming voice witch is usual the problem, and the outgoing is fine. For me it's the oposite you know.

Someone who have the time to help me with the firmware change?

I forgot:
I use ADSL from Nextgentel in Norway, and have tested it on two different lines.
For voip I use Onecall, also tested with two different accounts.

Changing fw English 04.26 to German 04.33 should be possible using the 7050's ftp server configuring there the necessary data.

But before we try that: Did you ever do a RECOVERY with fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.en.04.26.recover-image.exe from AVM's ftp server?

You should do this first just to make sure.

The other question: The problem concerns your VoIP AND your landline calls or only one of these?

I have done a recovery with the english 14.04.26 and it went well.
The problem is with voip. I have no landline to try it out with, sorry.
What can I do with the ftp? May you give me futher instructions?

I did have an idea, please say if I'm lost:
1. Go into telnet and change from avme to avm
2. Use recovery "fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.04.15.recover-image.exe" (deutsch) (because of same kernel 2.4)
3. Upgrade to 14.04.33 with web interface.

Will it work?

I have converted a german 7050 14.04.15 to english 14.04.26
Then I decided to give the box away so I converted back to 14.04.33 german, which is essential the same step you will do.

Your 3 steps looks fine.

PS Do you need to change Annex as well? German is for sure Annex B by default.
My english version was always annex B, same as the german one.

PPS After new kernel 2.6 14.04.33 there is no easy way to downgrade to kernel 2.4, therefore also difficult to go back to english. So be sure about it.

There are some small settings different (English has STUN and Timezone settings, german has Internetsuffix) so better reset to factory settings before beginning, because else there is no webgui to reach them.

I am sure and I will not go back. I'm not good in deutsch, but I understand the meaning in the german webgui.

Good tip there to do a factory reset. Wish me good luck, and hope my box is a live when I'm finish.

I have no need to change annex, I will use B.
Do you think my voice problem will dissappear?

Not likely, the .26 was a good stable version that served me very well for a year.
But you seemed to have success with the .31 version, so I can give you this other option.

To monitor what happens, why not open the trace-tool (called Paketmittschnitt) on the fritz while making a call:

Is self-explanatory. It creates a file that can be opened and analyzed by wireshark.

.31 is available on the avm server as a german recovery version, but forget about using it, it has faults. You're supposed to upgrade in any case to latest version .33 right after recovery. And this you can do from a running .15 system.
The only reason to keep the .31 recovery was because you cannot use the .15 recovery any longer, when the running system is already converted to the kernel 2.6.

But the trace, do it in the current version before upgrading anything, so the fault may be analyzed first.

I did take the trace. With the outgoing call it all went well (all lines are blue), but with incoming call and no outgoing voice I did get four green lines (3-6) and two red lines (7-8 ) in wireshark:

You need to filter on SIP and RTP all the rest is nonsense.
However, I see a private IP address on the WAN: 10.0.0.2

What is your (WAN)-address assigned by your ISP? Is it public or private?

OK. How to filter?
Yes now the FB is connected to a dsl modem/router with nat onto lanA. But same problem as if it was connected direct to DSL line.
10.0.0.2 i private local lan adress to FB. My public is none of these ip listed. Typical 80.202.xx.xx

I did the filter in wireshark, and I see that incoming rtp (voice right?) and outgoing rtp is different codecs : G729 and G721. I don't know whitch is whitch, but should they be different?

Mmm. Codecs. If it must be the same by rule I don't know, but I have never seen them different in one call.

Just for experiment, try and go into your internet-telephony settings, and try and find the option to use "always in fixed network quality" (under extended options).
This should force codec G711 and this one is always supported in both ends.

While your at it, disable the setting for speech pause detection, because enabled normally causes the RTP to stop streaming using a silent message and not all systems like that.

G729 is a licensed codec, it was therefore supported only in exported Fritz boxes, but not in German native boxes. Simply swapping firmware from German to English as many tried for that reason did however not enable this, somehow this codec was hidden deeper into the box.
