Hi,

Sorry about the English, my German is hmm,...

I recently purchased a Fritz!Box 7050 and I want to use it with my VOIPBUSTER-account.

I have a normal analog (PSTN) fixed line on which I have a ADSL account (3.3Mbps). Line quality is normally sufficient (SNR margin around 12dB, Line attenuation 40dB) so the problem shouldn't be situated there.

Physical setup: on my telephone connection I have an ADSL filter (with a wire going to the ADSL entry of the fritzbox) and a normal telephone jack (with a wire going to the life line jack on the box). My DECT base station is plugged in to FON1. I use WLAN connection to connect with my PC. A normal, typical setup, I guess.

Problems I encountered:

- Incoming calls : when people call me using our fixed line number (obviously, since I don't have an internet number), the DSL signal is generally lost after around 1 minute. During the conversation, the line is re-established by the Fritz!Box and starts working again. Even if the phone call lasts for 1 hour or more...

- Outgoing calls: 9 times out of 10, the call is disconnected after around 1-2 minutes (and yes, I have enough credit on my account Wink ). I don't know how much bandwith a normal phonecall uses, but I don't think that this has something to do with it, since 'normal' downloading at full speed works like a charm...

- Outgoing calls (2): when I'm making a phonecall using VOIPBUSTER and someone else tries to call me, that person doesn't get the 'busy' signal. How do I make him get the busy signal?

If someone encountered the same problems, please let me know how (if) you solved them... To all others: I'm open to any suggestion.

Are you sure that all Cables are connected corect? Check it again.
If yes, then you have a problem with you telephone Line and DSL.
If the DSL-Splitter works correct and if there is no Error at your Telco, this Error can not occure.
Sorry for my bad Englisch. ;-)

If you use a analog Phone - look in the Manual how to set the FONx Options (Nebestellen Einstellungen). If you use a ISDN-telephone, then you must set it there, because this is a ISDN-Services.

About Problem 2 - i don't know but i think it has something to do with Problem 1. IMHO

Bye

Although a strange event, generally any problems that occur like you have described here are as a result of malfunction of your splitter and/or a wiring problem with respect to DSL and your telephone line.

Are you talking about a VoIP call or fixed line call? (the reason i ask is that you talk about bandwidth, this can only apply to a VoIP call.) If it is your fixed line you are using then see the answer to above. If you are talking about a VoIP call then you said you have enough credit, so that can be discounted, and bandwidth should not end the call every time. What error log is shown for these calls?

To be honest I did not know this problem existed. I thought with an analogue telephone that once you picked up the receiver it would always give an engaged signal to anyone that called while the phone was off the hook.

EDIT: I have had a look. As I use a ISDN telephone things are a little different. I do not see anything in the fritzbox setting to help you here. I would have thought as I said above that an analogue telephone should return an engaged signal once it is in use. Otherwise you could play with the diversion settings. In these setting you can divert a telephone call when one of your numbers entered n the fritzbox is engaged.

Call waiting comes to mind but I would have to look at my setting again. Will let you know.
