Hallo,
I have a problem with my 7140. I have installed 39.04.67freetz-devel-6290 with some packages and it has served me pretty well. Recently i decided to remove some packages and install some others and with that opportunity i updated to 6832 and made my new image. However after flashing my router enters a rebooting loop. Hopefully i had a script for uploading firmware and managed to bring it back to my last working image.
Since then i tried many configurations with different packages and an almost vanilla freetz image with different updating methods but the box refuses to work with any of them and it stays in the rebooting loop. I also tried to get trunk version 6290 and rebuild the image with different packages but it still does the same. During the little uptime the fritz interface is not accesible at all, the freetz is accesible but after some seconds the router reboots...
At least i could bring it back to a working state. But officially:...
Houston we have a problem here!

You wrote that it's possible to access the Box for a short time?

Can you open a telnet/ssh session? Does it help to enter "echo disable > /dev/watchdog"? Can you post some logs then? Especially "ps" would be interesting?

Regards
Oliver

Thank you Oliver

I just flashed to 6918 with a new config with no package selected (just the freetzmount and syslog)
The same thing with the box.
Although after entering your command the rebooting loop stoped. The freetz interface works fine but the fritz is unaccessible. Its daemon mustn't be running.

Here is the ps output:

Code:

you Cah try to flash your old freetz image with ruKerneltool and if the box id running in the normal way you should update the box again. I thing you try to flash an annex b image on an annex a box.

Can you please execute "ctlmgr -fv"? What does happen? Does it crash?

Regards
Oliver

I have an annex A box and am flashing the right image but for some reason i have these little problems...

Oliver I run "ctlmgr -fv" and here is the output:
Code:
*** 2011-05-03 13:16:38(1) [Segmentation fault] /usr/bin/ctlmgr.bin(2874) CRASHED at _ftext+0x40c (/lib/libfreetz.so.1.0.0 at 00000b6c) accessing _DYNAMIC_LINKING+0x1f (/usr/bin/ctlmgr.bin at 00000020) ***

However the box itself didnt do anything unusual it just kept working the "normal" way, it didnt flash any leds or anything..

PS:The wifi switch isnt working...

That's odd. I don't own 7140 to test it. Are you sure that you are using an unmodified version of the trunk?

libfreetz preserves the Freetz users in /etc/passwd and is mandatory for usb host boxes.

Regards
Oliver

Yes am pretty sure. I also didt a new checkout of the trunk just to see if anything change. Guess what.. Not a thing...

Can you please try to build a 7170 7140 Alien image? I need to know if it happens there, too.

Regards
Oliver

My friend the alien image worked!
I can access now the fritz interface and everything works as it was supposed to!.. So from here and on i will have to use the 7170 7140 alien image.. I dont think there are any disadvantages using it, are they?
Thank you for your help and time!

Fine.

Code:
*** 2011-05-03 13:16:38(1) [Segmentation fault] /usr/bin/ctlmgr.bin(2874) CRASHED at _ftext+0x40c (/lib/libfreetz.so.1.0.0 at 00000b6c) accessing _DYNAMIC_LINKING+0x1f (/usr/bin/ctlmgr.bin at 00000020) ***
Did the ctlmgr crash with this line of output only? Or did you see anything else?

Regards
Oliver
