freetz voip server

Hi.

i am searching for some time now and i cannot find anywhere how to make my fritz 7140, a voip server by making use of freetz.
is there a package or a trick?
i need to have a voip server similar to the one that fritz 7270 has by default.
is there any way to have something like that?

There are different ways to get an Asterisk server running on a FritzBox.
Have a look at this thread, or give the search a try with "Asterisk Fritzbox". Not as easy to set up as the SIP server included in 7270 or others, but managable in some way or another.

hi. i am not asking for asterisk.
i was talking more of a sip server as in 7270.

Yes I got that. But if there is no SIP server integrated in the original firmware, the most common solution is using Asterisk instead. I can't remember any other Freetz package providing a SIP server, but looking through http://trac.freetz.org/wiki/packages should easily give serenity.

So concerning your questions:

No, there is no package, the trick is using Asterisk.
You simply won't get an integrated SIP server if the firmware doesn't support it.
Therefore, "something like that" is once again Asterisk.

The DTMFBox SIP server seems to be a little hard to get working, isn't it?

While doing some research, I happened to find out that you might have a chance to modify 7170's firmware for 7140. >>click<< A bit old but perhaps possible for 29.04.80 firmware, too.

This is quite an old post. Did anything change, or is Asterisk still the preferred/only sollution for an SIP server?
