Hi

I'm struggling with getting a USB drive to mount on a FB 7270 (fw 54.05.55). The box has custom firmware include macFuse and automount of NTFS and ext volumes.

The volume i am trying to mount is a FAT32 volume.

It appears that the FB recognises the volume, as it's there in the admin interface.

What I am looking for is how to get the drive to appear in the Finder on my Mac (Leopard); or even a way to connect manually. come what may I can't seem to achieve this (i have tried direct connections using smb and afp). I don't seem to be able to connect using ftp either.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

screenshots of admin pages are below

Thanks
Justin

It seems you want to forward the disk via the "USB-Fernanschluss" Feature. This means, you need a client tool on the local system to use the disk. This client is only available for Windows.
You need to disselect the USB-Fernanschluss Features in the web interface and try to access the disk via network (don't know how this is done in Leopard, in Windows it can be found at \\fritz.box on the explorer)

thanks. that makes sense.

i have disabled the disk forwarding. i can now see a disk appearing in the Finder (equivalent of Explorer) that is called uStor00. It is mounted as a volume on the fritz!box server (addressed via smb://10.8.2.1 - the equivalent of just typing \\machineIP in windows).

however when I try to address the disk i am told that it has only 20MB of capacity (it should have 250GB) and when i try to write to this disk i find that i don't have the correct access permissions. (no passwords are set).

lastly, when i look at the admin interface, the disk drive is no longer appearing as recognised. nothing has changed apart from disabling the Disk Forwarding, per your advice. i have tried rebooting the FB and power cycling the disk drive.

Any thoughts?

however, the disk drive has an MBR partition system with just one single FAT32 partition on it. i can reformat using GUID but i'd guess that would confuse the box even more.

I would try reformating the disk in FAT32 on the local system, not via the Fritz!

sure. i should have made clear that the disk has been formatted locally. i was not even aware that i could format the disk via the Fritz!Box.

i reflashed the custom image to the FB and this seems to have solved the problem. i suspect it was simply the long reset that really did it as the image did not appear corrupt in any other way.

thanks for your help.

Hello,

are you able to use your setup for Time Machine?
