Sorry for posting in English, but i don't know any word in German,
this is probably the only forum where i can find answers concerning the FritzBox.

I just would like to know what is the SL version of the FritzBox.
Is it usable the same way than the .... "original" one ?

Hello,

the FritzBox SL (WLan) is an older router from AVM (I think from the year 2004). It's original.
Following specifications:
- router
- ADSL-Modem
- 2 Ethernet-connections for PC
- 1 USB for PC
- (WLAN)

no VOIP !!!

There are another boxes from AVM with the "SL" in the name: for example the FritzBox 7170 SL . This ist an original Fritzbox 7170 from AVM without the Y-cable for connecting to normal telefon. This fritzbox connects only over IP.

Hi sz54,

does it mean, for the 7170 SL, that if i make my own Y cable
it will work, or the hardware is different, it's not possible at all to connect to the fixed line network ?

Thanks.

Hardware of fritzbox 7170 and 7170sl are the same. When you have a 7170sl, you need one y-Kabel. In the configuration you have to switch on (on german "Festnetz") Telefon over ??? (I don't know the word, I mean "not VOIP" [edit: fixed line Telefonconnection]). That's all.
