General voip provider infrastructur question...?

Hi, I'm doing some research in the german voip marked. There are some
different voip providers for the private marked. My question is about the
voip providers infrastructure.

To become a voip provider, you need DDI numbers and E1 ISDN Pri lines
connected to a server to have a working voip platform. In many other countries where voip is quite popular all the voip providers uses the infrastructure(E1, DDI etc..) from the same PSTN provider.

Does anyone know who delivers infrastructure to all the german voip
providers?

In Germany it is a bit more different:

- The most popular telco working as a voip vendor is "Telefonica Deutschland" who delivers e.g. AOL, 1&1/GMX/Schlund, Sipgate and outbox with inbound telephony on geographical numbers.

Telefonica is currently the only Voip-vendor-telco that could offer you a geographical number in every German area code "realtime" (e.g. with Versatel you have to wait 2 months and more in most of the area access codes)

- Another popular telco es e.g. "Versatel Süddeutschland", who delivers e.g. Toplink with inbound telephony. There are a couple of more smaller telcos also offering inbound telephony.

- Some VoIP-providers are just labels of an existing telco, e.g. Freenet, T-Online, Arcor; they need no vendor

- Sipgate founded its own telco "Netzquadrat"; but most of their numbers are delivered by Telefonica, 'cause this might by cheaper

- Some other telcos (e.g. Colt Telecom) do only offer outbound telephony


There are also two wholesale vendor companies building a bridge between the "big" carriers and the "small" voip-companies, offering pure termination in- and outbound up to complete voip infrastructure

- Toplink Plannet

- outbox AG



Last, not least there are VoIP-providers getting their connectivity from one of the vendors above and offering their own product as a reselling plattform, e.g. PURtel.
