I am using the O2 DSL16000 with a Fritzbox 7240. Somehow the bandwidth is only around 7000kbps. I guess there might be a way to locate the problem by checking the DSL-Informationen from the router. I tried to search the forum for similar threads but my German is too bad to understand anything... Therefore I am attaching it here and hopefully someone would be so nice to take a look at it. Any suggestion is welcome! Thanks a million!

Hi an welcome on board,

i guess there is not much you can du about your problem. Your bandwidth is limited by the "Leitungskapazität". Although your DSLAM is capable of delivering you up to nearly 18000, you probably won't squeeze out more out of your telephone line. Maybe the distance between your telephone wall socket and the DSLAM is just too far. I guess that is the Reason why your "Leitungsdämpfung" is so high.

This is one of the reasons, why providers only promis their bandwith with the to little words "up to" infront of 6000, 16000, 18000 kBit/s

Hope you understood at least half of what I wrote as my enlish is as bad as you german ;-)

You might want to make sure that all cabling and wiring between your router and the phone socket ist as short as possible and of the best possible quality.

Especially the plugs and sockets in between. This might give you a few kbit/s in addition ... it might....

Thanks for your answers! It's very useful information that the problem should lie within the attenuation from the provider to my place, although there is pretty much nothing I can do about it...

Any chance this could be solved or improved by the provider? Anything...

I have such a situation at my parents place.. sent a mail to the provider and got the reply that they can do nothing about it. You could try the same but the result will probably also be the same.

If you do not really depend on every bit of bandwidth you might reduce your cost by going to a 6 Mbit connection contract as soon as your contract allows.... the difference to your 7 Mbit should not be too great.

Yep, we share the same thought. Somehow O2 only offers DSL4000 and DSL8000... I guess in this case switching provider is not likely to help, either. Maybe I will think about Kabel... Anyways, thank you, guys :p

Maybe, scaling down might with this provider again end with half the bandwidth.
How about the new Telekom offer of VDSL with 25 and 50 Mb? Is that available to you?
