Help with a 7270 from spain!

Hi,

first of all, I apologize for not write in deustch language, but unfortunately i don't speak and either understand german.

I write because i'm thinking to buy a 7270 fritzbox to use at home. I live in countryside and the only one ISP that I've is and ISP that gives me phone and Internet by LMDS.

This ISP gives me a pseudo-router, that split the signal in a RJ45 connector that takes the internet signal and a RJ11 connector for the phone line.

I thought in the Fritzbox 7270 to have at last answer machine, to use my DECT phones all the house, have fax and split the internet wifi signal at 300mbps. I think it can works as it, connecting the rj45 internet connector at one of networks ports, and changing something from setup, isn't?

In fact, I don't really a modem-router, I just need a neutral router that takes the internet signal and then share this signal in all computers of the network.

My question is:
if I don't need it as a modem, just as a neutral router, is important to buy a international version? or may I try to find in Ebay a cheaper german version?
If I acquire a german version, could I change the interface language to english or spanish?

Maybe will exist another version, not the 7270 one, that can do that I'm looking for?

If your basic needs are reduced to the router function, IP telephony and the English language menu you will easily find many other Fritz box models (look at AVMs DOWNLOAD>ftp-Server page - can find there all FRITZ models and their firmware including language). If you need 300 mbit/s you will find only the 7270 and the 7240 (only difference with 7270: no ISDN bus connection). The only FW "speaking" Spanish is the 54.04.67 for the box 7270. Don't forget that 300 mbit make sense only if your PC's (or other equipment) network is able to receive 300 MBit.

Don't really understand which type of internet signal connection you have. But if your FB shall work as a client (including the internal router function) of your provider's modem only it does not matter which "Annex" your box is ("annex A" or "annex B" are only important if the box is also used as a modem).

Just another question: I've looked in the awd website, and 7240 model is only available in german. There is some way to change its language interface and firm to english?

Sorry, didn't know that 7240's menu is only available in German. So if you need a 300 MBit there is no alternative to the 7270.
If speed and the modem is of no or minor importance you could give it a try with either a 7170 or even a 7140 (can flash the 7140 with the FW of the 7170). You would save app. 60 ¤ against a 7270 comparing the Flohmarkt prices in this forum.

But: If you want to make use -maybe later on- of the modem function of the box I can only recommend the 7270.
