How can people call me?

Hi!

Sorry for writing in English, but my German is quite bad...

I have setup my Fritz!box 7050 with VOIPstunt.com, and this is working well for outgoing calls. However, I wonder if there is a way to get incoming calls WITHOUT having a real phone number associated with my VOIPstunt.com account.

Is this possible with a SIP client? Or through ENUM or so? I really have no clue...

A friend of mine, who also has a VOIPstunt.com account can NOT call me when my VOIPstunt.com account is logged on via the Fritz!box (he sees me online, but status is "via SIP" and cannot call me). Is that normal?!

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't read the German here...

Without phone number from VOIPstunt - No.
Voipstunt does not support ENUM or URI. :-(

Do you have another VoIP account whereby people can call you? Does it work? Could you have any port issues for example is your box behind a router or does your box have an internet address from your ISP?

ENUM I have never used. For a normal PSTN to call VoIPStunt you could try sipbroker.com depending on where you are. The Stunt number is *568

So he is using the stunt softphone to call you. I have no experience with calling a sip url from stunt, buster or discount. Once again you can use the above link to put a question there or you can use the voipbuster forum which may answer such questions.

Which other VOIP provider could I use then, so that other people can call me? Will I get a SIP address then?

And how does this work then? Do they have to use my SIP address from a SIP client, or can they also reach me from a normal phoneline by calling a special gateway phonenumber?

I don't have another VOIP account, so I don't know if that would work. My box is directly connected to the Internet.

But how does this work? People can dial this PSTN gateway number, then the *568 code, but then what? I don't have any number, besides my loginname, from VOIPstunt...

First where are you in the world? If you are in Europe then register a gmx account. Then with sipbroker people can call the sipbroker number and then your gmx number. Good thing with GMX is that you can have a german, austrian or English number as well, should you live in any of these.

Also have a look at voxalot which may be what you are looking for.

With voipstunt etc I believe that the following (new) servers will allow incoming calls in the future:

*518 sip1.sipdiscount.com
*534 sip1.voipbuster.com
*568 sip.voipstunt.com
*551 sip.internetcalls.com

*586 sip.voipcheap.co.uk
*718 sip.netappel.com
*725 sip.sparvoip.de

Eventhough I have found these above I have tried to call my voipbuster account with the FB and a softphone and was unable to do it. Softphone to softphone work though.

You are right about that problem of calling sipbroker and stunt I do not know the answer to that one, but I would answer it by playing around a little.
