[HOW-TO] Fritz!Box 7140 with CDC-ACM driver support

Hello,
This is my first post so hi everyone, my name is Sebastian.
Unfortunately i don't know german so i have to write in english.
I am very newbie linux user so this thing is really hard to me:
I'm using freetz firmware (version stable-1-1) and i've got a huge problem.
I want to provide an internet connection to my fritz!box (7140) via USB modem (CDC-ACM class device - Thomson TCW710 cable modem) - (i cannot use RJ45 connection - it is blocked).
I was trying to load cdc-acm driver but it looks, like there is no support for that in kernel. Is it possible to use USB CDC-ACM modem to provide internet connection into fritz?

Hi,

with freetz, it's possible to build the cdc-acm kernel module ("make kernel-menuconfig", select the driver as module, rebuild, copy cdc-acm.ko to the box and load it with insmod). But I guess that you need much more. Perhaps pppd for connection establishment, etc.

But to be honest, I didn't really understand your problem with the RJ-45.

Hello,
Thanks a lot. I'm starting to build my "own" kernel.
Cable operator has changed the default password for administration panel of this device. RJ45 output was blocked (by admin panel) and they don't wanna to unblock this functionality. I can get internet only by USB cable .
I will let you know about my nxt problem

Hi everyone,

I finally compiled usbnet module. Now it is possible to load it using modprobe. After plugging usb cable modem into fb, kernel loads proper driver and eth1 device occurs in the system. For now i've got last (i hope) problem:
I want to reconfigure wan interface. For now, wan interface points at eth0 device and i would like to change into eth1. Is it possible?
