Mehr als 4 USB - Geräte an der Fritz!Box ?

Moin!

Ich weis, dass die 7170 max. 4 Geräte am USB mitmacht.

Derzeit hab ich 1 Hub und 3 Geräte an dem Hub.

Nun will ich aber unbedingt noch ein 4 Gerät mit an den Hub hängen. Wenn ich das jetzt mache, dann wird 1 Gerät, in meinem Fall ein USB-Stick nicht mehr erkannt.
So nun stellt sich mir die Frage, ob diese Begrenzung Hardwarebedingt ist, oder ab man da was "drehen" könnte.

Sorry, that I'm answering in english, but my german isn't that good

This is caused by a restriction in avm's hotplug support. There's at least one conditional statement querying the number of attached devices and subsequently limiting it to three.

In the hotplug proposal there will be no artificial limit to the number of attached devices: this will be solely limited by the resources available to the system.

Yes, but be aware that version is alpha and has only limited support for critical infrastructures such as:

• umount at halt/reboot
• no avm web page visibility
• only FRITZ!Stick and memory keys are supported
• only vfat and ext2 support
• and may contain dangerous bugs

At it's current state I cannot recommend it in a production environment.

I have 3 FTDI USB to Serial adapter and 1 USB stick - therefore it should not work?

As far as I know, hotplug is not really necessary to access the devices, just convenient.

AFAIK the entire avm usb logic runs through their hotplug system. This also sets up all required modules, configurations and mountpoints for samba and ftp.

Here's a snip-bit of usb.pandu from the 'add' logic:

A possible work-around could be to plug-in the HD first and then the usb-serial devices. But then the last device will still not be available to aura, but that's not too important.

While booting, the memory key is may be the slowest being recognized. However, it may work must of the time...

Könntest Du denn das "hotplug" soweit anpassen, dass zukünftig mehr als 4 Geräte erkannt werden können?

I'm [edit] not [/edit] sure that's a good idea... I don't know enough about the original. There maybe pitfalls around this... And I'm pretty sure that the freetz team won't because of the time it takes to solve and test...
