needing some help with a Fritz!box 7050

hello to everybody.
a friend of mine gave me his Fritz!box 7050 for free because he bought a newer variant and i am in need of a wifi router.
it's running a Firmware-Version 14.04.33 (latest, from what i saw) but it's in German.
i would like to switch it to English and have it on Annex A.
i found this forum discussion (http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=97250&page=9) and tried applying it on my box.
i did not realize until it was too late that i can't downgrade from 33 to 26 (using fritz.box_fon_wlan_7050.annexa.en.04.26.recover-image.exe)
the message i received is "Could not recover the partition mtd1! WinError -3".
now the box is unusable, it keeps rebooting and disconnecting.
is there anything else i can do?

Yes you can downgrade, but it is very dangerous! If you are able to read german have a look here...

After that you can do the changing to Annex A.

hi and thanks for the reply.
unfortunately, i don't understand German but i went through that discussion thread you mentioned with google translate.
as i see it i have to go to a usable fritz!box with GUI (14.04.31 AnnexB DE) and from there to 14.04.26 (AnnexA EN) using the two exe files corresponding to these versions from AVM.
i only have access now to the ADAM2 ftp. (i don't know how to make the telnet accessible)
i am not sure what settings to set using the "quote SETENV" command in order to get to 14.04.31 AnnexB DE. can anyone help me?

ps: i am running windows 7 64 bit. (does this impact the recovery process in any way?)

BtW, to activate Telnet you can use the Keypad with a connected Phone
