Newbie questions first firmware compilation

Hello,

I have just started using freetz and have created a firmware image with international language interface (avme), Annexe A stable version. I have added the transmission addon via the menu selection, a few extra personal addons for satellite use by adding to the addons folder.
The following drivers have also been selected during the menuconf ftdi_sio, pl2303, usbserial and a few more drivers.

I now have the following two small problem's and was wondering if someone can help me correct these problem's in the source so that I do not have to make these changes after installing the firmware.

1. The link from the fritzbox GUI to freetz is not correctly linked. I believe this has something to do with the fact that it runs through port 81.

If I type fritz.box:81 i can enter no problem, but when I click think on the GUI I receive the following error.

404 Not Found

ERR_NOT_FOUND

The link points to "http://fritz.box/cgi-bin/freetz_status"

2. The 2nd problem is the fact that I need to change the security settings to enable editing of the cfg's and use of the rudi shell.

There are several security levels. The level can be changed using the following commands:

echo x > /tmp/flash/security

modsave

* with x being one of the following values:
* 0 : no restrictions
* 1 : only configuration files without shell commands might be edited
* 2 : no configuration files might be edited

Is it possible to set this in the source so that this is not necessary after installation of the firmware.

Does your browser send a referrer, or have you configured the browser to block the referrer?

It is not possible to change that in the firmware, because it is not part of the firmware but part of the configuration. But you could change in the firmware the default value that is used if /tmp/flash/security is missing. just search for /tmp/flash/security in the firmware files.

As answer to the browser referrer or block. No it is just the standard browser settings, the mentioned error occurs with both firefox and internet explorer. :noidea:

"http://fritz.box/cgi-bin/freetz_status" schould generate e redirect to "http://fritz.box:81". What address is displayed in the browser when you get the 404 Error?

This redirect is not being generated, the address that appears in the address bar is the same as the link advertises. "http://fritz.box/cgi-bin/freetz_status" ?

Is this a problem in the source or something to do with the addon's selected during the menuconfig ? I suspect that this has something to do with the transmission plugin.

I will try a compilation later without the transmission plugin to see if this helps.

Perhaps this is really a problem in the source because you are using an avme image. Can you please post your .config and I will try to find the error. Which version of Freetz are you using?

The version I am using is Firmware version 58.04.67freetz-devel-3189_3192M

Hello again,

Back to the real world, I have now attempted a new compilation and the following fault has appeared during compilation of the bash-3.2/builtins
Any help would be appreciated.

What is your build-environment? You need to install intltools I think. On my Ubuntu I had to install it.

Kernel : Linux 2.6.27-11-generic (x86_64)
Compiled : #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:28:32 UTC 2009
C Library : GNU C Library version 2.8.90 (unstable)
Distribution : Ubuntu 8.10

I will take a look at the intltools is most likely that this is not installed, I have removed the bash-3.2 in the menuconfig for the meantime.

I will retry after this compilation has completed

Hmm Intltool is not the problem this is already installed on my system.

Reading state information... Done
intltool is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Maybe something else in the makefile for mkbuiltins?

Just to report back the correction in the source for the freetz link works fine now A big thx to Oliver for correcting this.
