Hi,
I'm new to the fantastic world of freetz and I did already a succsessfull freetzing of my (spare) FritzBox Fon 7270. I can connect to the freetz wegGUI and also connect with Putty over the telnet protocol.

In future I would like to use some small software applications to monitor some remote sensors connected via RF to a receiver on the USB port.
For more information see the project webpage: http://jeelabs.org/ and in particular
http://jeelabs.net/projects/jeemon/wiki/JeeMon_introduction

As an additional information, I'm quite experienced on Windows systems, but a newbie to linux systems...

what I tried was to put in a USB stick into the FritzBox. It was mounted as supposed and via telnet I went to /var/media/share/ftp/uStore01
There I saw my application in a directory called /datatables. I then simply tried to execute the application, but that resulted in a crash and reboot of the FritzBox.

Before going into details, my question here:
- Should it be possible to run an application directly from the USB-stick simply by executing it?
- Do I have to copy it somewhere on the FritzBox filesystem before running it?

Maybe I didn't deliver all information you need, please tell me, if you need some more information...
Thanks in advance
Greetings
Christian

Yes, it is possible to run an application directly from an USB-stick. And no, you don't need to copy it first.

If you want to get help we need more information about your application and the crash.

Oliver

Hi Oliver,
thanks a lot for your quick response. I will try again this evening and try to give you some more information about my application and the resulting problems.

Hi,
I found how to start an application in LINUX.
I get the following output:

/var/media/ftp/uStor01/jm-linux-hallowelt # ls -l
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4036118 Apr 24 2010 JeeMon
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 Feb 28 2011 application.tcl
/var/media/ftp/uStor01/jm-linux-hallowelt # ./JeeMon
./JeeMon: line 1: syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")

Has anyone an idea, what goes wrong?! Sorry, I'm really feeling helpless in this UNIX-world...
