Recover FritzBox 7050

Hello,

First my excuses for writing in English, because I can't speak and understand the German language. My English isn't very good, but I'll try.

I bought a German FritzBox FON WLAN 7050 on Ebay, but i'm not going to use it as a modem, so Annex B isn't a problem.

But http://fritz.box is complete writen in the German language. So I tried changing it to English.

I followed many manuals on this forum, but nothing works and now, I don't get an ipaddress from my Fritzbox en sometimes I've a reboot loop.

So I want to go back to the German language, the firmware what was installed when I bought it.

Telnet doesn't work anymore, so I had to use ftp.
I gave my LAN adapter a fixed ipadress (192.168.178.10) and the gateway interface 192.168.178.1.

But it does not work. (see screenshot)

Can somebody help me?

Hi driesve

First of all: Welcome to the Forum!

You are on the right way!
And it seems you are familiar with ftp/adam2. That's fine!

"WinError -4" usually occurs in case of a conflict between the installed Firmware with kernel 2.4 (in your case 14.04.15) and the used recovery file with kernel 2.6 (in your case 14.04.31?).

Solution: Use german recovery file 14.04.15 AnnexB.

Recommendation: Install the english FW 14.04.26 AnnexB. It has kernel 2.4, too.
You must only change the parameter "firmware_version" to the value "avme" and afterwards you can run english recovery file 14.04.26.
The ftp command is "quote SETENV firmware_version avme"
(if you have an older version of ftp it is "quote SETENV firmware_version,avme")

Thanks for your answer.

I used 14.04.15, but I had changed the Firmware_Info parameter, 14.04.15 wasn't the original value.
But the original firmware, when I bought my Fritzbox, was *.04.31. So I have changed Firmware_Info to 14.04.31 and tried the recovery file 14.04.31 and it works.

Now I can visit http://fritz.box, my FritzBox is repaired, but still in the German Language.

What have I to do, to change the language to English. Annex A of Annex B doesn't matter because I use a modem in bridge-mode and I'll have VDSL2.

I've installed 14.04.31 (see screenshot)

Changing from FW 14.04.31 (kernel 2.6) to FW 14.04.26 english (kernel 2.4) it's a little awful, because you have to manually change the bootloader at flash partition mtd2.
I don't recommend you to try that, because it is not so easy and a little dangerous: If you delete mtd2, you will kill your FB7050.
Further more, FW 14.04.31 (german) is a little more powerful than FW 14.04.26 (english).
You should learn the meaning of the german comments, most of them are self explaining.
There is a newer (german) version FW 14.04.33; you may update it to via GUI menu.

My Fritzbox is now working well, so I'm going to use the German-interface/firmware.

I'll use my fritzbox for routering and VOIP. I don't need support for Annex A because I'll use another modem in bridge mode.

Thanks for helping me with repairing my fritzbox.
Now I will try to learn the German language.

What about reading and followig the advices you allready got? It is not polite to hijack other threads and crosspost all over the forum

Once again:
You can not recover a box wth fw 04.31 with a recover of version 04.26.

So please follow the advices you got in the thread you opened for your problem:

Recover your box with the geman recove 04.31.

Then you may install a firmware prepared with the annex A modem-code.

Feel free to ask, but do not repeat the same question all over.
Tell what you allready did following the advices and what your specific problems are.
