The VoipBuster - quiality of services

hello everyone,

I'm sorry that I'm unable to write in German...

I've got problems with The VoipBuster - hardly anyone can call me on the number provided by them and I've been experiencing difficulties to make call as well. I don't need all the 'free' services and calls, but I use the phone number as contact number and therefore is quite essential that the services work all the time.

so far I got no reply whatsoever from them...

is anything what I can do with it?

@home I've got the Siemens Gigaset SX541 with SMC 2.08 firmware
I've got two accounts with The VoipBuster and one with Sipgate.co.uk (this one works fine)
dsl broadband with 8000/768kbps
configuration of The VoipBusters accounts should be alright, as it simply sometimes works and sometimes without any change stop working and I can neither make nor receive calls (I can't receive calls most of the time - usually I got 'Unassigned Number' or simply error). The Sipgate accout works as far as I can see all the time fine.

sometimes I use software client (usualy on Solaris), but that isn't my main concern (and usualy it doesn't make difference to the fact I'm unable to receive/make calls)

You should give us a little bit more Information about that waht are you trying to do and what equipment you have.
We are not the Wizzard of Oz ;-)

please let us first know something about Your configuration. If You will implement it as signature, it would be very helpful for future inquiries. What kind of hard - and software do You use with voipbuster?

What happens, if You use the generic voipbuster client?
Have You tried another registrar e.g. connectionserver.voipbuster.com instead of sip.voipbuster.com

I don't have MS Windows and therefore I can't use all the time the voipbuster client. However, I did try for few times the software and to my surprise it didn't make really difference. I could make calls, but still many times couldn't receive.
Also when I try the call option when I log-in on the website, I couldn't make call.

I didn't try another address for registration, I may try that if that doesn't work again.
What I did notice, that the Sipgate registration is almost immediate, where if I change anything on any of the voipbuster account, it disconnet both accounts (why?!?) and then it takes long time to get that back. Is it usual?

Just BTW, I've got address in Berlin, however I got 0322 number. From another thread I undertand that I should be able to get 030 number. What I need for it?

It depends on Your provider. The Berlin local area number is 030, and some providers offers those numbers. Other offers 032... as dialing code. This is a new area number only for voip lines and it's not allocated to an area! Another disadvantage of those (032) numbers is, that they are not reachable from every fixed line subscriber. Still Deutsche Telekom works. For celular phones, e.g. O2 works, E-plus doesn't. So it should be an advantage, to get a real (030) local area number

I couldn't make calls again, so I used the connectionserver.voipbuster.com instead of sip.voipbuster.com - but no change whatsoever :-(

Realm : voipbuster.com
Proxy IP Address : sip.voipbuster.com
Proxy Port : 5060
Registrar IP Address : sip.voipbuster.com

Registrar Expire : 1800
Support User-Agent Header : Enable
Support Out of Band DTMF : Enable
Call Hold Version : RFC3264

is that all what I need there?
as I've already mentioned, the Sipgate works just fine, problems only with voipbuster...

Sorry Philip,
I'm not famliar with the Gigaset. From my point of view, I would change the REALM to sip.voipbuster.com
Maybe, that You can find some useful information in english here

I used buster until the time expired. I also used Stunt. I had two German numbers, one in Dusseldorf and one in Frankfurt (i think) I am in Munich. To call my parents in Australia I would redirect my buster and or stunt account to my parents address and then at work or whereever I could call the buster/stunt number and it would redirect to my parents.

Their phone number are very unreliable and i would never rely on them. Buster was as you say almost 100% unreliable. Stunt was ok and I thought a lot better.

If you are in Germany then get a German sipgate account. Sipgate is very reliable and use it for incoming calls. Use buster for outgoing.

I would add that I found that when you use the client (ie the software) that both were pretty reliable.

Edit: Also see what difference it makes when you start with 0049. I found that if you dial the full number it works, if you leave off the country code it does not.
