Annex A 7170,7140, xx70,5010,5012

Hallo ,

I tried to convert my 5010 from ANNEX B to ANNEX A with the new tar file from H.A.N.D.
No luck for me because after upload firmware (uploading were now problem ofcoarse without unpakking file)my 5010 was still ANNEX B

SO MY QUESTION IS ...IS IT POSSIBLE WITH THE 5010????????:noidea:

Hi Ronald10,

try to load the file from the board again.
Check if the DSL-information shows Annex A or Annex B.

I expect the menu should show Annex A.

Unfortunately I do not have a 5010 nor Annex A to test.

Hoi H.A.N.D. i man,

My dsl is an 5010 ANNEX B bought in germany. I'm from holland and my situation is analoog ISP Speedlinq and tried different modems run on ANNEX A.
This one however is a ANNEX B.
With the file fritz_als_avm_annex_A_new I put it in the menu firmware update...After new starting up know difference.(still ANNEX B)

This is what I have to do or do I mis something????

I"m now busy in making a new cable rj45 yo rj11 mayby it will help ....but I think I need both sollutions

You need to take this file for the 5010: fritz_as_avm_annex_a_kernel_args.tar

I think it's not possible to go to ANNEX A with the 5010

As long as the menu still tells us Annex B it should still be Annex B.
Hmm, no idea. It should make sense to think about the kabel before
the box is changed.

You might check with telnet if the kernel arguments for Annex A are set.

- login with telnet
- cat /proc/avalanche/env | grep kernel
=> should show:
kernel_args annex=A

Otherwise fritz_as_avm_annex_a_kernel_args.tar failed.

Strange, on my box is a /sbin/reboot which can be called by reboot

Do a power off/on

I do not have any more ideas than this for Annex A..

I found a strange thing too...in your previous post about the 5010 you wrote

When I telnet with cat /proc/cmdline there was no response...

It looks like the bootloader adam2 works different for the 5010 !
For some other boxes kernel_args had been passed to the kernel,
/proc/cmdline had been filled with the value, ( so annex=A in this case )
and the box had switched to Annex A.

So the 5010 seem to require still an image modification. Not so nice...

OK H.A.N.D. ie man,

For a mod.image I have to do

- Cygwin installieren ( wenn du windows-user bist/bleiben willst/kein Linux ausprobieren willst ) . http://www.cygwin.com/
- oder Linux installieren, bzw. mit Knoppix booten ( ist eine Distribution Linux von DVD/CD )

- Downloade das Image von AVM welches zu deiner Box passt.
- Das tar-File xx70_annex_a.tar hier aus dem Thread runterladen.
- mit "tar xvf xx70_annex_a.tar" das File auspacken.
- cd xx70_annex_a
- ./fritz_xx70_annex_a.sh
Und dann das entstandene Image auf deine Fritzbox laden.

Can you explain a little bit more what is in red and thick. I just use XP professional so what to do with Cygwin...

xx70_annex_a.tar is a collection of files and script prepared by me.

"tar xvf xx70_annex_a.tar" unpack the files to xx70_annex_a/*
cd xx70_annex_a You should know from XP
./fritz_xx70_annex_a.sh call the prepared script...

cygwin contains an API-interface and a collection of UNIX tools to run
lots of software from the GNU-world under Windows.
My shell scripts rely on those UNIX tools. Did you look on the cygwin page ?

What I don't understand is how you create a image for annex A for my 5010
I read the postings a couple of times....

unpack a file oke
make a dir oke
but then I don't know??? call./xx70_annex_a
where have I to put in???

a directory up
3. call ./xx70_annex_a

The image can be uploaded with the regular update function.

My next post I wil explain my difficulties.At the moment my download is 60% of normal and my upstream is 40% of normal.
