Bad quality with Fritz!box Fon WLAN 7050 and Voipbuster

Sorry for writing in English but I hardly understand German.

There are 5 days since my DSL connection is active. It is a ADSL 512/128 Kbps connection and I'm using the Voipbuster service with a German Fritz!box fon WLAN 7050. The problem is that when I'm downloading with full speed (especialy when there are many simultaneous connections established) and try to make a call the quality is very bad. I have the traffic shapping enabled (set to auto) and also the "Wählen Sie hier aus, wie Telefongespräche die Bandbreite der DSL-Verbindung ausnutzen." setting set to "immer Sprachkodierung mit Kompression verwenden". Is there anything else I can do except of that? I want full priority to be given to my phone call even if this means that my speed goes to 2 Kbps during the call!

Hello,

it is a widely known issue, that the voip quality is bad with many parallel downloads. Especially P2P tools like eMule or bittorrent are horrible. The only way is to decrease the number of connections to an appropriate value.

First of all thank you a lot for the quick responce.

I think its also the lack of the G.729 codec from the German boxes that makes things worse... So its the Number of connections that creates this and not the total Speed I'm downloading with? So this means that putting some limitations on the number of the connection will make things better huh?

yeah, I think the main problem is the number of connections. At least for me the VoIP quality is good with one or two full speed FTP connections, but using eMule with 500 simultaneously connections (without using the full speed of the DSL connection) causes the VoIP connections to be unusable. Using 150 - 200 connections is much better.
