The text above is somewhat older and meanwhile new facts (regarding the relation between TFFS settings, bootloader's "finalization" and resulting values for the linux kernel) are known.

I'm not sure, how the "macdsl" setting may be changed permanently, especially not for a 7360 model and I've no (good and logically justified) idea, why someone should do this.

Thank you for your quick reply. Sorry to hear that there’s no solution you know of. The reason I would like to change mu macdsl-address is that my internet service provides utilises an MAC-filter when setting up a VDSL-connection to the internet and so forces you to use the crappy moden/router they provide you instead of using a modem/router of your own choice.
