[English] Recover bricked fritzbox fon

Hi,
sorry for this post in english, but i find nowhere forums dedicated to the fritz!box.

I have a fritz!box fon which is working well.
It's an english one.

I bought another one on ebay for my brother. But that one is a german one (freenet edition). I could change it to avm edition, and finally change the web interface in english, but ADSL connection could not be made.
So i connect to both fritz!box and compared the env variables.

Without doing anything to the "good" working fritz!box, this one stopped answering.
I reboot it, and now the power led light up, and after about 6 seconds, all leds light up and just after all of them shut off. I guess that the fritz!box reboots because it does this all the time, like a continuous cycle.

I still can send a firmware via the recover software, but no one is working.
(i tried : fritz.box_fon.06.04.27.image, fritz.box_fon.en.06.04.24.image, fritz.box_fon.annexa.en.06.04.24.image and finally FRITZ.Box_Fon.06.03.65.image).

With only one of them (FRITZ.Box_Fon.06.03.65.image) the power led keep blinking, and it seems the fritz box don't reboot, but i still can't access or ping the box.


....hope someone will help me.

Hi.
Can you try to get some informations from adam2. You have to do this within 5 seconds after start/reboot with fixed ip an lan cable in lan port (like recover).

How did you try to recover? With the command line tool from the CD plus the normal firmware images? Or did you try the recover tool which can be found on the AVM ftp server in the x_misc folder?

I think i used the one i found on the CD (an old distribution).

But the recover.exe works. It transfers the image and the kernel without error. (with every image i used).

I also tried a GUI recover that i found somewhere on internet, but that one doesn't find the fritz.box.

This seems to be correct. But the firmware you have flashed is not for OEM avme?

I flashed with every firmware i listed here.

Including the "good" one which i found on the avm website, in the english section, this one has to be good because it was the last upgrade i did.

...i really don't understand.

OK, i changed the firmware_version to avm,
but it did the same.
Connexion via ftp when starting the box, but nothing more.

So i tried once again to send the firmware, then again......then waiting a long time before rebooting the box, and now it's ok.
Not really OK, but the box starts, and i can connect to the webserver.

Everything looks fine, excepts that it doesn't want to connect to the ADSL.
I entered the right user and password, but it's not OK.
ADSL info are good (upload and download, DSL connection is active).

But on the overview screen i see
"Internet : Fritz!Box has no account information for an internet Service Provider."

.....so it's better, but still not OK.

i have lots of error on telnet :

Try with the recover 06.04.01 for annex A.
What's your HWRevision ?

I tried the recover for annex A 06.04.01.

Except that the firmware is now in 06.04.01, everything is the same.
It can not connect to the ADSL anymore. (same error message).

Maybe this could help someone find the solution :
on the web interface, i have nothing printed in the system log.

firmware_info is not the correct one, i took this just after putting the 06.04.20 firmware

I had also problems with recover to 06.04.24 and I loose some good hours.
The recover stop at quart mtd0 deleting with winError 10054.
Finally I try with an old celeron 500 with xp sp1 and the recover was good from the first try.( 2 fritx boxes fon)
I think Windows SP2 is the problem with updating firmware & recover.
Warp_be, try to reset to factory settings and put firmware( or recover) with another PC.

Hope this will work. I'm not sure the recover process could not complete.
Is there a way via ftp to put the factory defaults, or erase the flash.....or something i could to do by myself.

When you execute a recover-Image from the AVM-ftp all settings are deleted. I don't think that it is a good idea to do "put empty "0x0 mtd3/4". Then all settings of you Box are away including your MAC an so on. Sure you have this info but you have to set it manually...

I'm looking for the value of environmental variable HWRevision for FRITZ!Box Fon Annex A English. In German Annex B boxes it is HWRevision='58'. And what is it like in English Annex A?

I can see in the above listing that there is HWRevision 64, which is quite strange in this model...
