Complex matters do not need more action and more desperation but more thorough thinking and planning - I really do not understand what you did and why you did it. Seems you did'nt get either the sense of what I wrote with respect to firmwares < 04.30 and firmwares > 04.30.
All you did with ftp according to my advice was ok and close to a happy end - the only matter to find out and to resolve was "why did your box get fw 10.04.34 (or ...43?)? and not 08.04.34!

Where is your box now? I don't know and probably you either?

A german firmware version 08.04.49 was never released and does not exist. You should be more careful with what you write and what you do.

If you use ruKernelTool you can download two types of firmware 08.04.49 - (1) Annex A and non-Annex. When I load the non-Annex, the webpage is in german.

Sorry, just tired and frustrated - spent the whole night on it.

So here am I now (after bootloader change):

1. Can access the box with ftp adam2 (even thou the box doesnt respond to ping)
2. Can read environment settings, but cannot set environment settings
3. Can run recovery tool for ex. fritz.box_fon_wlan.annexa.en.04.26.recover-image.exe which detects the box but it says incompatible firmware
4. The box flashes all lights same time

I read on other threads that my env is damaged. If I clear mtd3 and mtd 4 with :
put empty "0x0 mtd3"
put empty "0x0 mtd4"

am I able to get a recovery image to flash the box?

The old bootloader needs a different syntax. Try this:

Agree with KunterBunter: you should be (much) more careful! This syntax is NOT exactly what KunterBunter wrote.

As to 08.04.49 ENGLISH and GERMAN version: KunterBunter is right-there was never a German version released by avm - so if you get a German version of 08.04.49 it is a modded one - which does not necessarily mean that it is faulty. Maybe Rainer could give an explanation.

I have windows 7. I have disabled the windows firewall. Can I run the recovery exe in xp compatibility mode or it has to be an xp?

I found an old laptop with xp. It works. Many thanks @KunterBunter and @imagomundi. I will post my steps I did to downgrade the firmware.

Initial Status:

Activated telnet and installed tftpd32 on my pc (windows 7). Downloaded mtd2 from [illegal firmwarelink deleted, Novize], unarchive the mtd2 and placed it in tftpd root directory (c:\tftp)

My Fbox ip address is 192.168.178.1 and my pc is manually set on 192.168.178.101 with gw on 192.168.178.1

Then open command prompt and telnet into the box:
telnet 192.168.178.1
ignoring pop-up info messages I typed (you might want to hit ENTER button to see # prompt first):
#cd /var/tmp
#tftp -g -r mtd2.bin 192.168.178.101
#cat mtd2.bin > /dev/mtdblock3

Then switch power off/on the box and connect with ftp

ftp 192.168.178.1 user adam2 pass adam2

type after prompt ftp>


quote SETENV HWRevision,66
quote SETENV firmware_info,08.04.26
quote SETENV firmware_version,avme

Then connect your box network cable into an XP machine and run

fritz.box_fon_wlan.annexa.en.04.26.recover-image.exe
