[FRAGE]Transmission im Freetz-Trunk

I think you should read a bit in the wiki on freetz.org. THere's a pasaage called "FAQ", and there's the "image too big" deklared. Try external, try usb-root or the downloader. Your Box has only 8MB of flash, and the origin image withour freetz is near this afaik.

I know some people use FBF 7170 and Transmission. I was wondering whether Transmission could be integrated in the image for 7170. If you say it is not possible because the flash is too small, then I will try the methods you suggested.

Maybe it is possible, maybe not. I haven't tried it, cause I'm not interested in any form of transmission or other bittorrent-clients. The more you remove from your box - telephone- or dsl-support an other things you possibly don't need, the more flash you can use for this programm.

You are on the right way. I also spent weeks to have solution. )
You should enable external. Which will put some files from the root (8MB) to your external hdd. The TRANSMISSION_CGI will help you to configure and start-stop the daemon.
See my attached .config , I also put mc, lsof, ext2tool and nfs to the image, but it is not mandatory.
I use latest devel trunk.

Thank you for your comments and sharing your configuration! I will take a deep look on it and try again.

BTW, you are using English version Firmware now as you describe in your signature. Does it have the same functions as the German version?

Unfortunately I haven't seen german firm so I have no idea. But as I know only minor functions are different. None of them are important for me.
The devel trunk has many great features, so I suggest to use it instead of freetz1.1.

It seems that finally I have installed Transmission successfully. However I could access the web interface via http://fritz.box:9091, since it asked for a username and password. I have tried:
admin admin
admin freetz
freetz freetz
root freetz
but it always shows "401: Unauthorized Unauthorized User".
I searched the forum but could not find an answer. Does anybody know the solution? I used the trunk version 3619.

I dont know, but is there a field with username/password in the freetz-webinterface, somewhere on the transmission-package-settings? afair you can modify these values somewhere in there.

Yes, you are right. I have found it. The default one is: transmission freetz.

Hallo,

nach langem hin und her habe ich es endlich geschafft transmission static und external zum laufen zu bekommen, funktioniert auch wunderbar, bis auf das automatische starten von transmission. Da es external auf nem USB-Stick liegt, versucht Freetz es zu starten bevor der Stick fertig gemountet wurde. Habe dann versucht das ganze über die rc.custom zu machen, nur da wird der Prozess als root gestartet und dann habe ich keinen Zugriff mehr auf das Web-IF von transmission.

Hat jemand eine Lösung für das Problem parat? Ein su (switch user) kann ich ja nicht machen :-(

könntest du das bitte etwas näher erläutern? Mit dieser autorun.sh habe ich bis jetzt noch nie gearbeitet. Muss die einen bestimmten Aufbau haben? Wie kann ich da dann das Programm als ein bestimmter User starten?

Aufbau: Ein Shell-Script, wie es das überall gibt.
User: Siehe Suchmaschine deiner Wahl. Ach ja, und das rc-Script, welches normalerweise startet, startet auch als root. Und am Rande: Bevor du da mit so etwas rumpfuschst, von dem du wirklich bisher keine Ahnung hast, wie wäre es dafür zu sorgen, dass das Binary vorhanden ist während es aufgerufen wird? Da fiele mit ein, etwas an den Runleveln zu drehen, oder aber evtl. auch mal deinen USB-Stick auszutauschen. Eventuell liesse sich auch das Startscript modifizieren, oder irgendwo in rc.custom oder debug.cfg transmission neu starten. Aber prinzipiell würde ich wahrscheinlich vor allem eines: Das mit einem etwas schnellerem USB-Stick testen.

ein bißchen Ahnung von Shell-Skripten habe ich schon. Naja...werde dann mal versuchen ein bißchen über google was herauszubekommen. Dachte nur das jemand schon eine fertige Lösung parat hat und ich mir dann das ganze gesuche im www sparen kann.

Und wieso gehst du nciht darauf ein, dass dein USB-Device ewig viel lägner braucht zum Initialisieren als denn die meistne anderen. Imho liegt da ein Hardwareproblem vor, ob es nun ein Hardwareschadne ist, oder das Device mehr als ne Minute braucht zum Initialisieren ist dabei ja erst einmal egal, oder?

da ich keine Erfahrung mit anderen USB-Sticks habe, wusste ich nicht das es mit anderen Sticks durchaus funktioniert. Mal sehen ob ich mir nen neuen Stick kaufe...zur Zeit habe ich den hier in der 16GB Version.

Gibt es Sticks die man grundsätzlich empfehlen kann?

Boardsuche wird dir helfen, denn irgendwo gab es einen Thread, in dem sowas erwähnt wird.

Ansonsten: Ja, es gibt Sticks, mit denen das funktioniert. Zumindest auf meinem W900V hatte ich vor Urzeiten mal transmission per external ausgelagert und konnte es starten beim Boot.

Das aber ändert nichts daran, dass der Stick anscheinend langsamer als die Box initialisiert wird.

ich habe in meiner rc.custom eine Schleife eingebaut die wartet bis der Stick gemountet wurde. Theoretisch kann ich dann den Aufruf den du geschrieben hast doch auch da einbinden, oder?

Kannst du. Und wieder: Was ist mit deiner Hardware?
