Hello,

Sorry to write in English, but I don't speak German.
Fritz!box seems to be a fantastic piece of hardware but mostly unknown outside Germany; that's why I'm writing in this forum.

I would like to know if it's possible to turn off the modem part to use a Fritz!box over a cable connection for example?
Of course, a few features won't be accessible anymore but WLAN and VOIP should be still usable. Am I right?

Thank you in advance for your answers!
:)

Hello daftendireckt.

Welcome to IPPF!

Most new FRITZ!Boxes support Internet via Lan1 (WAN-Port). e.g. 7170 V2, 7270, 3270...

WLAN and VOIP is still usable.

You can even convert the Box to Annex A, some more information in english language you can find here.

Where do you live, which ISP do you use?

That was quick, thanks!

For now, I'm living in Paris (ADSL Annex A), but I'm moving to Oslo soon (ADSL Annex B, I think).
In France, I'm a Free subscriber and I'm using the Freebox as modem, VOIP gateway, IPTV provider... And it's because I'm moving to Norway, that I'm looking for a Fritz!box as Freebox replacement!

I don't know yet where I'm going to live in Oslo, but in some apartments, internet broadband is included: no choice for my provider in this case. That's why I was asking if the modem part could be turned off.

I think I'm going to buy a 7270 on ebay and hoping for an English/Annex B firmware soon. I heard that the international version should be available on September.
If it's not the case, I will need your help the configuration I think ;)
