Fritzbox 7050 Firmware Rollback?

Hello

Firstly, I apologize for using English in this forum. If anyone could help me though it would be much appreciated.

I have a Fritzbox Fon WLAN 7050, using 1und1 16MBit DSL, and recently upgraded my firmware to the latest version available on the AVM site - 14.04.33.

The problem is that every one or two days the router will just hang/die, which requires me pulling the power to reboot it. I had never had this problem before upgrading the firmware, so I would now like to roll back my firmware to the previous version. Does anyone know if this is possible, and how I would do this?

Or if anyone has a suggestion on why this is happening and how to solve the problem without a firmware rollback that would be fantastic.

Which firmware did you use before updating the router to .33?
Maybe I can help you with the recovery.exe especially to your problem.

thanks for the recovery link, im currently using the german version. is there anything i should be careful of while running this tool.

i see there is no .25 recovery image, so if i put .15 back on, is it possible to download the .25 firmware from somewhere if i want to upgrade to that.... i dont see the old firmwares available on the avm site anywhere.


and if i was to change it to english, what would i need to do? would i use the annex a or annex b firmware?

If you need help, just ask.

The most important thing is to connect the box directly via LAN to the computer and disconnect all other LAN/WLAN-connections. Stop Firewalls and Virus protection tools.

Then run the tool and follow it's instructions (Disable Mediasensing -> Reboot computer -> pull power plug of the box when the program tells you to do so -> replug it when the program tells you to do so).

It's not that simple. You cannot change the language just by using the recovery tool for the english versions. You have to change the OEM-Version to "avme".

This can be done by building a "pseudo update image" with the aid of http://www.the-construct.com/?p=pseudoimage .

After you have changed the branding to avme, the box's webinterface will be gone! This is the moment to use the english recovery tool. Afer that you should have an english interface. But no warranty. ;-)

Edit: And in future you can only use the international firmware versions. The german firmware won't work on an avme-branded box.

BTW: In germany all DSL providers use Annex B.

On the ftp-site AVM points out, that there is no going back once you installed version ~.04.30 or higher and warns *never* to use an older version.

i managed to solve the problem by clearing out/resetting the router to factory settings. (system, zurucksetzen, Werkseinstellungen). i had to reenter all my login information/ port settings etc, but there was thankfully no need for a firmware downgrade. thanks for the replies and suggestions tho, it was appreciated.
