Hallo Fachleute

Mein Fritz!

DSL => Pin 4 and 5
Analog Phone => Pin 3 and 6 at FB7170 (Pin 1 and 8 at the end of the Y cable)

The rest (Pin 1,2,7,8 at the FB7170 RJ45 connector) ist part of the ISDN bus, however I don't know the exact pinning for ISDN.

Hallo und willkommen im Forum :-)

British telephony is something special as there are two types of sockets ;-) Master sockets from BT normally use wires 2 & 5 for line signals plus a bell wire. Line sockets (RJ11) in households normally expect 3 & 4 to carry the line signal, i.e., they are consistent with the (not standardized but de-facto followed) international assignment of the signal to the four/six wires. It's simply the ones in the middle. In more modern telephony installations, this works for me.

Ultimately, you will have to test what exactly is the case in your place. I suggest you get a plain analogue telephone with conventional a/b on wires 3 & 4 (the manual will tell you) and try to connect it to the outlet. If it doesn't work, you may test 2 & 5. Alternatively, you could monitor the voltage levels on the wires and see which change when you call ;-)

Although the British telephony system has some weird properties with respect to voltage levels in some older installations, you should pretty much be able to connect the Fritz!Box this way.

Good luck! :-)

Cheers,

Hallo Fachleute.

Aber wenn ich die Handbuch folge:

Hello !

I assume, your location is England ?
I'm not quite sure but i think, that in England the DSL ist slightly different than in Germany (England DSL-Annex A, Germany DSL-Annex B) ??

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annex_A
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annex_B

I think there are Firmware-Patches for the Fritzbox to switch between both versions....you may try typing "Annex A" in the search function of this forum.... you may have a look here

Hi Knuffi

Yes, I am in the UK.

I had an idea that may be DSL in UK was different to Germany, but I was not quite sure. I will now try to look at the Annex A / B solution. Thanks :)

And thanks for the adaptor pin number solution. It worked, as I have analog connection through the FB7170. :D

You added a comment: " [Edit: Novize war schneller ;) ] "
My comment is: Aber nicht besser! Novize' suggested thread did not answer the quedtion :-Ö ! Yours did :D

Best regards - Egnilkuk
