Hallo,

Correct, the hardware atleast should see the stick. I don't no much about the 900 but post the results of the following:
Code:
lsmod
cat /proc/partitions
mount
ls /sys/class/usb_endpoint
ls /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev*_ep00/
ls /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev*_ep00/device
with the stick attached and unattached.

/etc/hotplug/storage add 0 0 0 0

Where are the ls's for the usb_enpoints: these are the most import devices in the usb hotplug chain.

Is something like a replace kernel for the 900? Did you alter the kernel configuration and accidentally deactivate hotplugging?

Another possibility to help locate the problem is to write a sh script that prints the hotplug environment variables to a file in /tmp. Make it executable and let it report all the hotplug events.
Code:
#!/bin/sh

env | sort >> /tmp/hotplug.log

Copy the above to /tmp/hotplug_logger.sh and make it executable
Code:
chmod +x /tmp/hotplug_logger.sh
Ensure it works properly
Code:
/tmp/hotplug_logger.sh
should create the file /tmp/hotplug.log. If that works delete the log file and allow the executable to catch all hotplug events
Code:
echo /tmp/hotplug_logger.sh >/proc/sys/kernel/hotplug
Then connect your memory key and compress and attach the resulting log file to your next post.

After posting the results you may reboot your box to restore your box.

Hallo johnbock,

wie Du oben sehen kannst...
Code:
/ # ls /sys/class/usb*
/sys/class/usb:

/sys/class/usb_host:
usb1

@Darkyputz
In order to mount an usb partition the disks and partition must be known to the kernel; look at the output from /proc/partitions.

@kuf001
It's probably best to see which hotplug events exactly are being generated by the kernel. If you've understood the stuff about the hotplug logging script, go ahead and perform and post. If anything is unclear don't hesitate to ask.

Oh, if you decide to attach (please don't post) your kernel attach your freetz config too.

Just one more thing, what version is the kernel used by the 900v?

Hallo,

Hm, habe grad mal in Wikipedia nachgeschaut.
