What is better for freetz - a 7050 or purchasing a new 7270?

I have a 7050, where I would like to log in to my sip provider. Unfortunately the firmware version I am using is wrongfully converting my username to all lowercase. cf http://www.ip-phone-forum.de/showthread.php?t=171989

Avm say there is no such bug because they can not reproduce it with their firmware version, even when I documented everything with screenshots and offered them a remote access to the box to test themselves (!)

I would also need to set a special DSCP value for this sip provider, which could be done with iptables.

To me, all this means I should try freetz instead.

What would you suggest? Is freetz 1.0 working fine on a 7050 (I get the impression it is not as much tested on the 7050 as on newer modems)

Should I get a 7270 ? It looks great, but I would need to convert it to annex-a.

All I need is :
- iptables
- an english interface

maybe you try first to change the branding of your fritz to avm if not allready done...that provides you some more parameters for sip...maybe that could help at the beginning...

At the moment my 7050 annex-a runs the vanilla 14.04.26 firmware.

The problems I have :
- I must fix authname in voip.cfg (uppercase+lowercase converted by the web interface to all lowecase)

It looks like a firmware bug, because allcfgconv show the lowercase authname I find by tcpdump, while I enter the correct authname in the web interface (!)

- I must set DSCP (TOS=0x30 ie 48) for the specific IP of my ISP SIP server, which else does not work

Ex:
traceroute -q 1 -t 0x30 192.168.63.2

(yes my ISP uses internal IPs for its VOIP servers - that's weird but it works fine with a HT-286. If I set DSCP, I can not reach other SIP servers - I must therefore only set DSCP for this server)

For the DSCP problem, I did try with iproute2 but the default kernel does not have QOS compiled in:
# ./ip rule show
# RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument

I guess it needs:
CONFIG_NET_SCHED=y
CONFIG_NET_SCH_CBQ=m
CONFIG_NET_SCH_HTB=m
CONFIG_NET_SCH_CSZ=m
CONFIG_NET_SCH_HFSC=m

The version is :

Any suggestion would be welcome. Ideally, I would just load the QoS modules and set the DSCP to 0x30 for packets going to 192.168.63.2 with tc

But the avm interface bug is quite annoying and I can't think of any workaround.

I'm not completely sure you could solve this problem by just using iptables, as normally, the outgoing interfaces (to dsl) are encapsulated in the proprietary avm dsl driver (kernel module) and are not visible to the usual networking mechanisms in the kernel at all. On the other hand, maybe the outgoing traffic will pass through iptables anyways. But I think you should make sure this works before buying a new box only for this.

You could simply try the whole thing on your 7050. It should work, even if is not tested as thoroughly as on some other boxes (simply because they as common). You can always go back to your vanilla firmware.
