I had a short look at freepops. But it needed so much libraries that I didin't try to get all working...

the imap method seems to work, as you have said

the problem is that now having the checkmaild functioning again, and hearing oliver says there are many libraries for FreePOPs, and me having no much free time to try to compile FreePOPs for fritz, the project has been delayed, i don't want to give up, but also can't insist...
